KTM 390 Duke and Adventure X prices increased by up to Rs 40,000 in India, with Adventure at Rs 3.43 lakh and Duke at Rs 3.39 lakh.
KTM has increased prices of its 390 range in India by up to Rs 40,000, with the 390 Adventure X now priced at Rs 3.43 lakh and the 390 Duke at Rs 3.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The revisions reflect a shift in pricing strategy linked to GST impact on motorcycles above 350 cc on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. The price hike was announced by KTM India and its Indian partner, Bajaj Auto
Adventure X Price Rises to Rs 3.43 Lakh, Up Rs 17,000
The KTM 390 Adventure X has received a price hike of Rs 17,000, taking its ex-showroom price to Rs 3.43 lakh from Rs 3.26 lakh. The increase adds to a series of revisions since its launch, significantly raising the entry cost of KTM’s adventure offering in India.
At launch, the motorcycle was priced at Rs 2.91 lakh. Subsequent updates and feature additions pushed its price closer to Rs 3 lakh, followed by a GST-related revision that increased it to Rs 3.26 lakh. With the latest hike, the total increase now stands at nearly Rs 52,000 over the original launch price.
The cumulative price escalation is expected to push the on-road price of the 390 Adventure X close to or beyond Rs 4 lakh in several cities, depending on local taxes and insurance costs.
KTM 390 Duke Gets Rs 40,000 Price Increase
The KTM 390 Duke has seen a sharper revision, with its price rising by Rs 40,000 to Rs 3.39 lakh from the earlier Rs 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The increase marks one of the most significant single-step revisions for the model in recent times.
The price correction follows a period during which Bajaj Auto had absorbed the impact of higher GST rates applicable to motorcycles above 350 cc. With that buffer now removed, the revised pricing has been passed on to customers.
The updated pricing also widens the gap between the 390 Duke and the 250 Duke to Rs 1.22 lakh, creating clearer segmentation within KTM’s street motorcycle lineup.
GST Impact Drives Pricing Strategy Shift
The primary factor behind the price hikes is the higher GST slab of 40 per cent applicable to motorcycles with engine capacities above 350 cc. This makes it more challenging for manufacturers to competitively price models in the 390 cc segment.
Bajaj Auto had earlier chosen to absorb part of this tax burden following its implementation, delaying the impact on retail pricing. The latest revisions indicate a strategic shift, with the company now passing on the full cost to buyers.
Lineup Repositioning for Sub-350 cc Models
The price changes also align with plans to introduce new sub-350 cc KTM motorcycles that can benefit from the lower 18 per cent GST bracket. These upcoming models are expected to sit below the current 390 range, offering a more accessible entry point for buyers.
Industry reports indicate that both the existing 399 cc models and the upcoming sub-350 cc variants may be sold simultaneously, giving customers a broader range of price and performance options within the KTM portfolio.
Higher Prices Reshape Premium Motorcycle Segment
The upward revision in pricing for KTM’s 390 lineup reflects broader pressures in the premium motorcycle segment, where taxation and feature upgrades continue to influence positioning. While the models retain their performance-oriented appeal, the increased pricing could impact affordability for new buyers.
The latest hikes underscore a recalibration of pricing strategies in response to regulatory changes, while also preparing the ground for a more diversified product lineup in the mid-capacity motorcycle segment.
