It is set to launch a nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination drive on February 28, according to a report by the Union Health Ministry.
The initiative aims to expand access to HPV vaccines as part of India’s broader strategy to prevent cervical cancer, one of the most common cancers affecting women in the country.
Focus on Cervical Cancer Prevention:
The nationwide campaign is expected to prioritize adolescent girls, aligning with global public health recommendations to administer the vaccine before potential exposure to the virus.
Health officials have emphasized that early vaccination can significantly reduce the risk of HPV-related cancers, including cervical cancer.
Public Health Expansion:
The rollout is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen preventive healthcare and integrate immunization programs into existing public health infrastructure. Authorities are coordinating with state governments to ensure smooth distribution and awareness campaigns.
Officials indicated that the launch event in Ajmer will mark the beginning of phased implementation across multiple states.
