KTR Calls for Greater Participation of Women in Politics
BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao has called for increased participation of women in politics, emphasizing the need for stronger representation in governance and decision‑making.
KTR Advocates Stronger Role for Women in Politics
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K.T. Rama Rao has urged for greater participation of women in politics, stressing that stronger representation is essential for inclusive governance and balanced policymaking.
Speaking at an event in Hyderabad, Rama Rao highlighted the importance of encouraging more women to enter public life and take up leadership roles in political institutions.
Need for Equal Representation
KTR said that women’s participation in politics remains significantly lower compared to men despite their growing role in various sectors of society. He noted that increasing representation would strengthen democratic institutions and bring diverse perspectives to policy decisions.
He also called on political parties to actively support and encourage women candidates by providing them with opportunities to contest elections and hold leadership positions.
Empowering Women Through Policy Support
According to Rama Rao, meaningful political empowerment requires not only representation but also policies that create an enabling environment for women leaders. He said governments and political organisations must work together to ensure that women have access to resources, training and platforms to participate effectively in governance.
He also emphasised the role of education and awareness in encouraging young women to consider careers in public service and politics.
Growing Discussion Around Women’s Representation
The call for greater representation comes amid ongoing national discussions about improving women’s participation in legislative bodies and decision‑making institutions across India.
Experts say that increasing the number of women in politics can lead to more inclusive policy outcomes and better representation of social issues affecting families, communities and vulnerable groups.
KTR reiterated that empowering women in politics is not only about equality but also about strengthening democracy and ensuring that governance reflects the voices of all sections of society.
