Shehbaz Sharif Begins Three-Nation Visit Amid Regional Talks
Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif begins Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkiye visit to discuss bilateral ties and regional peace amid US-Iran tensions.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has embarked on a four-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkiye to discuss bilateral relations and regional security developments.
Multi-Nation Diplomatic Engagement
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the visit from April 15 to 18 focuses on strengthening cooperation with key regional partners while addressing ongoing geopolitical challenges.
Sharif will also participate in the Fifth Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkiye, where global leaders are expected to deliberate on pressing international issues.
Focus on Regional Peace Efforts
The visit comes at a time when Pakistan is actively involved in diplomatic efforts to bring the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table. A second round of talks between the two sides is expected to take place in Islamabad in the coming week.
Earlier discussions held on April 11 between US and Iranian delegations in Islamabad failed to produce an agreement despite extended negotiations.
Bilateral Talks with Gulf Nations
During his visits to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, Sharif is expected to hold meetings with top leadership to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional security concerns.
The trip coincides with Saudi Arabia’s commitment to provide $3 billion in additional financial support to Pakistan, along with the extension of an existing $5 billion deposit, aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves.
Engagement in Turkiye
In Turkiye, Sharif will attend the Antalya Diplomacy Forum and participate in a leaders’ panel to present Pakistan’s perspective on global and regional issues.
On the sidelines of the forum, he is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other international leaders.
Delegation and Strategic Context
The Prime Minister is accompanied by senior officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi.
The visit underscores Pakistan’s efforts to enhance diplomatic engagement and play a constructive role in regional stability amid evolving geopolitical dynamics.
