SRH vs MI 2026: Hyderabad Chase 244 in Record IPL Run Chase
SRH vs MI 2026 saw Sunrisers Hyderabad chase 244 at Wankhede, marking one of IPL 2026 records with a high-scoring match and key Jasprit Bumrah stats.
Sunrisers Hyderabad completed a 244-run chase against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2026 on Wednesday, registering one of the highest successful run chases in tournament history. The result also marked a record-setting contest defined by high scoring, multiple milestones, and key individual performances.
SRH vs MI 2026 sets new benchmark in IPL 2026 records
The 244-run target successfully chased by Sunrisers Hyderabad stands as the fourth-highest in IPL history. It is also the highest successful chase recorded in any T20 match at the Wankhede Stadium. This effort became SRH’s second-best chase in T20 cricket, following their 246-run pursuit against Punjab Kings in the previous season.
Notably, three of the top five highest chases in IPL history have taken place during IPL 2026. Each of those matches has involved either Sunrisers Hyderabad or Punjab Kings, underlining a trend of high-scoring contests this season.
The victory also marked a milestone for SRH, as the franchise registered its 100th IPL win, including Super Over results.
Wankhede high scoring match sees six-hitting surge
The match produced 32 sixes across both innings, the highest ever recorded in an IPL game at the Wankhede Stadium. This tally is the joint second-highest in IPL 2026 so far.
Only one T20 match at the venue has recorded more sixes, when India and England combined for 34 maximums in an international fixture earlier in the year. Within IPL 2026, only the Delhi Capitals versus Punjab Kings match, which produced 33 sixes, has exceeded this number.
The frequency of six-hitting reflected the batting-friendly nature of the surface and the aggressive intent shown by both teams throughout the game.
Powerplay run flow highlights batting dominance
A total of 170 runs were scored in the powerplay overs across both innings, with Sunrisers Hyderabad contributing 92 and Mumbai Indians adding 78. This ranks among the highest combined powerplay aggregates recorded at the Wankhede.
Only one match at the venue has seen more runs in the first six overs of both innings combined, when 172 runs were recorded during a T20 World Cup fixture between England and South Africa in 2016.
The 92 runs conceded by Mumbai Indians in the powerplay equalled their joint-highest runs conceded in this phase in IPL history. A similar figure was recorded against Delhi Capitals in 2024.
Despite the high scoring, SRH’s powerplay total does not rank among the highest in IPL 2026. Punjab Kings hold the top mark with 116 against Delhi Capitals, while SRH have recorded 105 against Punjab Kings earlier this season.
Jasprit Bumrah stats reflect difficult IPL 2026 run
Jasprit Bumrah conceded 54 runs in his four overs, marking one of the most expensive spells of his T20 career. Only three previous instances have seen him concede more runs in a T20 match.
Two of those came in IPL matches, including 56 against Chennai Super Kings in 2021 and 55 against Delhi Daredevils in 2015. His most expensive spell came earlier in 2026 when he conceded 58 against New Zealand in Thiruvananthapuram.
Bumrah also conceded five sixes in this match, equalling his highest number of sixes conceded in a T20 innings. His overall IPL 2026 performance reflects a challenging season, with a bowling average of 132 after taking two wickets for 264 runs in 30 overs. This is the highest average among bowlers with at least 25 overs bowled.
Rickelton century anchors Mumbai Indians total
Mumbai Indians posted 243 while batting first, marking their highest total when setting a target in IPL history. Their previous higher totals of 247 and 246 came during unsuccessful chases.
The defeat means Mumbai Indians’ three highest team totals in the IPL have all ended in losses.
Ryan Rickelton led the innings with a score of 123, the highest individual total by a Mumbai Indians batter in IPL history. He surpassed Sanath Jayasuriya’s unbeaten 114 recorded in the inaugural IPL season.
The next highest score for the franchise remains Quinton de Kock’s unbeaten 112 against Punjab Kings earlier in IPL 2026.
Despite the strong total and a record individual performance, Mumbai Indians were unable to defend the target against a sustained batting effort from Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The match adds to a growing pattern of high-scoring fixtures in IPL 2026, with multiple records being challenged across batting and bowling metrics. The frequency of large chases and elevated powerplay scoring continues to shape the tournament’s evolving trends.
