According to the Israeli military, troops from the 98th Division have completed the encirclement of Bint Jbeil and have begun an assault on the town. Military spokesperson Colonel Avichay Adraee stated that the operation followed intense fighting over the past week.
Israeli forces reportedly killed more than 100 Hezbollah fighters in the area through close-range combat and airstrikes.
Strategic Importance of Bint Jbeil
Located about five kilometres from the Israeli border, Bint Jbeil has long been a key flashpoint in Israel-Hezbollah confrontations. The town was the site of heavy fighting during the 2006 war and holds symbolic significance for Hezbollah.
